Healthy Avocado Toast is super easy to make and makes the perfect addition to any breakfast or an anytime snack!
Avocado toast has become our new favorite breakfast/snack.
It’s healthy, simple, and delicious and best of all, it’s super easy to make and ready in under 5 minutes. In fact, this recipe is so simple we can hardly call it a recipe, but I had to share it with you because of how good these are!
This recipe is for simple avocado toast but the possibilities are endless. Sometimes we like to zest up the avocado toast and top it with beans, jalapeno, cherry tomatoes, maple syrup or pretty much anything else!
To begin, simply toast your bread; You can use any kind of toast or sliced bread you have but I like to use gluten free bread or sourdough bread. Next, mash an avocado in a small bowl with a fork. Add salt + pepper then spread the mixture on the toasted slice of bread. Sprinkle with pepper flakes.
In case you have some time on hand we absolutely love the addition of garlic mushrooms on top of our Avo toast. The meaty mushrooms with garlic when topped over creamy avocado toast, take breakfasts to the next level good.
Another everyday option and my go-to on busy days is to top the avocado toast with an egg cooked anyway. Our favourite is a sunny side up but poached, scrambled or even hard-boiled also works well.
Avocado Toast with Garlic Mushrooms
- 4 slices of Gluten-Free/sourdough bread
- 1 big avocado or 2 small avocados ripe
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 4 teaspoon butter
- Salt and pepper
- Heat a pan and add 2 teaspoons of butter and garlic.
- Cook briefly and add the sliced mushrooms.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Toast the bread in the griller.
- Spread the butter
- Mash avocado in a bowl
- Add salt and pepper
- Top the bread with mashed avocado and garlic mushrooms
- Crush extra black pepper or paprika if you wish
