Roohafza is a concentrated syrup made from Fruits, Herbs, Flowers, and roots with a sweet Rose Scent.
The meaning of the name is ‘Rooh’= soul, and ‘Afza’ = enhances or nourishes. As per the name, it does its job too, this drink enhances or nourishes the soul.
Rooh afza is very popular drink made in summers.
Very cooling and refreshing!
Roohafza is a drink that you either love or hate. There is no middle path to it.
I would always shy from this drink even as a kid. This drink was made of bottled concentrate and it seemed overly sweet and the flavours were overpowering.
Just not to my taste.
No offence to everyone who likes it…
This recipe is my healthy take on the age old taste of Roohaza. Now don’t get me wrong ,I do love the flavours. It’s just way too much sugar and the flavours are way too loud.
Why drink those extra empty calories?
How about Rooh Afza made with some fresh juices from pomegranate, beetroot for the rosy red colour, natural flavours and healthy sweeteners?
Too good to be true.Right?
This version of Roohafza does not need any bottled concentrate and way more refreshing than you think.
Simply blend the fruit and veggies along with flavours and sweetener, strain. Add lemon juice and serve over crushed ice.
Way less sugar and so much more flavour.
The only downside of this drink is that it lacks transparency like its original.
But we are not complaining really!!
A perfect drink for summers and great alternative to the bottle concentrate.
I can happily settle for this version.
How about you?
